STRESS- As the body undergoes deformation, its molecules setup some resistance to deformation, this resistance per unit area to deformation is known as stress.
σ=P/A
where, P= Load force acting on body
A= Cross section area of body
STRAIN-A single force acts on a body it undergoes some deformation, the deformation per unit length is known as strain.
ε=δl/l
where, δl= change in length of the body
l= original length of the body
Type of stresses
1. Tensile stress
2. Compressive stress
1.TENSILE STRESS- When a section is subjected to two equal and opposite pull and the body tends to increase its length, the stress induced is called tensile stress.
2.COMPRESSIVE STRESS- When a section is subjected to two equal and opposite pushes and the body tends to shorten its length, the stress induced is called compressive stress.

ReplyDeleteIf area is not same then it's stres is same or different
